How to create a social media strategy for business.

Posted on Fri Jun 5 2009

Social media strategy doesn't require dozens of corporate subcommittee meetings and a 70-page master plan. In fact, all you really need is one sentence that can keep you on target and on customers' minds.

To help get you started, here's a presentation I gave yesterday to the Internet Professionals Society of Alabama:

And while it's always awkward to see myself on camera, you can check out a video of the presentation over on Vimeo. Thanks again to IPSA and Jeremy Flint for having me out. It was a fun topic and a fun group.

David, I really enjoyed your talk yesterday, it gave me a lot of insight to things I had really thought about before. Two thumbs up.

Excellent stuff as always David. Definitely going to thumb through this over the weekend. (Love the Hannibal usage btw)

Just happened upon your presentation doing some research for a non-profit client. Excellent, simple and to the point. I'll add, Social Media is just another tool in the "communication" tool-box. For most of us, the business objectives haven't changed - what we have available to help us achieve our objectives has changed - grown.

I'm going to check out the vid presentation. Thanks for sharing and good luck.

Nice presentation, I've read other ad blogs that think businesses don't need a social network marketing plan, because its a fad and doesn't reach the intended market most of the time. What are your thoughts on this, are they naive or on to something?
